FEPI: GaLaBau and Child in the City Conference

Photo

The forthcoming General Assembly will be held in the city of Nuremberg, Germany, in September. The Assembly will mark a pivotal moment for FEPI as we elect a new Board of Directors. FEPI’s by-laws allow for the number of directors to vary from between five and ten and that all nominations for Board members must be put forward by the Federation’s members. In order to ensure the maximum involvement of all FEPI members, we have sent out invitations in advance and asked all members to provide us with potential candidates. We are always trying to encourage new directors to join the FEPI Board in order to keep up the constant and necessary process of development and innovation with the Federation. In addition, during the General Assembly we will discuss the outcome of the Capital of Play Award competition which took place in Finland and Sweden last year. The purpose of this competition was to identify and award local authorities and communes who develop state of the art installation policies for playground area equipment. The winners of the award received 15,000 EUR in playground equipment.

Immediately following the General Assembly, FEPI will participate as a co-exhibitor with BSFH (Bundesverband der Spielplatzgeräte und Freizeitanlagen – Hersteller) at the GaLaBau Exhibition also being held in Nuremberg. The Federation provides this event with added political backing by promoting it amongst its members and other relevant organisations. FEPI believes our involvement in this event will be an opportunity to develop our network of contacts and encourage new members to join our Federation. New members always bring with them new knowledge, experiences and innovative ideas to help the Federation achieve its goals. As a result of our recent activities, KRAIBURG-RELASTEC GmbH has recently joined FEPI and is now actively involved in the work of our four committees.

The next important event will be held in Florence, Italy, in October and will be the 5th Child in the City Conference. FEPI has been involved in this project from the beginning and has witnessed how it has developed and grown substantially. Through our participation, we will be able to give our support to the relevant organisations and companies to raise awareness of the importance of children’s play for their well-being. It also assists in encouraging cities all over Europe to create children-centred friendly play areas.
