Rovio and Holiday Club Resorts open large Outdoor Angry Birds Activity Park

The largest Angry Birds Activity Park to date has been opened on the holiday island of Gran Canaria. Stretching over more than 5,000m², it is the fourth and largest park to result from the partnership between Rovio and one of the leading providers of holiday and travel services, Holiday Club Resorts. The Lappset Group delivered and planned the park in conjunction with its customer.

“We are all absolutely delighted to have brought another Angry Birds Activity Park to life, this time in Gran Canaria,” says Dan Mitchell, Director of Location Based Entertainment at Rovio.

“Gran Canaria is an ideal holiday destination and the partnership, teamwork and dedication of everyone involved in this project will create yet another fantastic experience for our fans. The park features some completely new elements that we hope will encourage both locals and tourists to get out and enjoy this experience with their families.”

An enrichment of the current leisure offering

The new park in Gran Canaria will enrich and increase the current leisure offering in the south of the island. “We’re all very proud of the upcoming opening of the Angry Birds Activity Park in Gran Canaria. The area around Puerto Rico will undoubtedly benefit from these developments and from rising visitor numbers. Aside from being a major tourist attraction, the park will also serve local people and create new jobs,” says Calvin Lucock, Managing Director of Holiday Club Canarias.

“The European travel industry should focus more on content,” says Vesa Tengman, CEO of Holiday Club Resorts. “All too often there is a focus on accommodation, of which there is already an oversupply. Active holidays are pivotal at Holiday Club. The Angry Birds Activity Parks complement our concept, which encompasses holiday accommodation, services and year-round activity opportunities.”

Rovio’s new Café and Birthday services concept enhance the existing Angry Birds Activity Parks offering, with a diverse range of food from fresh options and snacks to à la minute dishes. There is also now the opportunity to arrange individual events at the venues such as birthday parties.

“Our Café and Birthday service at Angry Birds Activity Parks offer delightful and delicious meal options for all family members and a selection of event concepts for all occasions that further improve our existing range of entertainment options and allow families to thoroughly pamper themselves during their holidays,” says Riikka Ahtiainen, Director of Restaurants, Shops at Rovio Entertainment.

The fourth Lappset Activity Park for Holiday Club Resorts

The park was designed in partnership with Lappset Group, a Finnish company specialising in themed activity parks.

“We are absolutely delighted to be part of this remarkable project and to have supplied the high-quality products for this park, the fourth of its kind for Holiday Club Resorts,” says Tero Ylinenpää, Deputy CEO of Lappset Group Ltd.
