Queens Park at Hinckley

Queens Park at Hinckley

A huge, high and very fast Hurricane Swing and a state-of-the-art Basket Swing dominate two special bark-laid areas, whilst a timber-made structure constructed of twisted interwoven logs and netting stands tall in an attractive sand-filled area.

Officially opened by Councillor Keith Nichols, Mayor of Hinckley & Bosworth, this exciting new Wicksteed playscape offers something for everyone. Natural elements intermingle perfectly with some funky play equipment. There’s a long Bannister Slide emerging from the log mound which has a central tunnel scooped out and log steps form the other side.

Funding for the £50k site was provided by the government backed PlayBuilder grant plus approximately £10k from Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council’s capital funds for play provision.

Paul Scragg, Green Space Project Officer from Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, was keen to say: “The remit for the play area was to provide a natural space using materials such as rocks, boulders, logs, sand and bark together with a healthy balance of prescribed play products to challenge the children’s physical and mental skills. Wicksteed created just what we envisaged and the revitalised play area is being extremely well used.”
