Bloemfontein Athletic Stadium with new CONICA track

First time in history that an IAAF Class 1 certificate has been awarded to a South African athletics facility

The renovations in South Africa’s sixth biggest city, which was the venue for six matches during 2010 FIFA World Cup, were aimed at bringing the stadium up to world-class standards, staging national and international athletics events in future.
In the course of construction works a new track system has been installed. People in charge decided in favour of the track system CONIPUR MX of CONICA Sports Surfaces. The high performance full PUR system guarantees high energy recovery whilst supporting athletes in their natural sequences of motion.
The facility has been awarded Class 1 certificate by the IAAF, which is the first facility in South Africa which was given that honour so far.

Inclusive sports and inclusive sports facilities – still a long way to go

Inclusion and inclusive infrastructure design are still very topical issues. On the one hand, this is very positive and shows that people are aware of the issue and also want to promote it.
