SIK-Holz: successful thanks to guarantee

Handwerkspreis (Skilled Trade Prize) of the Guarantee Banks awarded to wooden play equipment manufacturer from Brandenburg

SIK-Holz from Brandenburg won this year’s Skilled Trade Prize of the Guarantee Banks, which was awarded for the second time. The company managed to come out on top against more than 30 handicraft enterprises from all over Germany. SIK-Holz plans, designs, manufactures and installs wooden play equipment for children. 200 joiners, carpenters, wood carvers, locksmiths, traders, engineers and specialist consultants help bring the play equipment to schools, day-care centres and children’s playgrounds; under the “Rainbow Project”, they build a wooden play item shaped like a rainbow together with young people from different culture groups. SIK-Holz was already awarded the “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” (Grand SME Prize) and the Teltow-Fläming Economic Prize for commitment and product ideas and was distinguished as an exemplary training company.
Founding couple Gust and Co-Managing Director Marc Oelker accepted the award.
Successful thanks to guarantee – the company’s success can be reduced to this simple denominator. Klaus-Peter Gust, Managing Director of SIK-Holz, therefore especially thanked the Guarantee
Bank of Brandenburg: “Every award is an honour and recognition of our achievements as well as an incentive for us. However, we wouldn’t have been able to grow to such an extent without our guarantee.”
The award was presented by ZDH Secretary General Holger Schwannecke: “SIK-Holz is an example of the diverse skills and not least also of the social commitment of the German skilled crafts and trades. Their full potential can be optimally developed through customized financing and support from the guarantee banks.”
The guarantee banks back the financing of more than 7,000 companies with surety bonds and guarantees every year. The largest group of these companies is made up of handicraft enterprises. “More than 1,700 companies that were given a guarantee last year show how closely guarantee banks and the skilled crafts and trades co-operate. Tradespeople need guarantees for foundations, growth or for order financing,” said VDB Chairman Dr. Stefan Papirow at the awards ceremony
in Wiesbaden.
The Skilled Trade Prize of the Guarantee Banks comes with a prize money of 5,000 euros and has been awarded every year since 2012. The guarantee banks nominate successful handicraft enterprises, which have received a guarantee in the past three years. The patron is the Federal Government’s SME Commissioner. The jury is composed of representatives of the Federal Ministry of Economics, of the skilled crafts and trades and of the VDB.
