New green turf for the SV Schwanenberg

Photo

Some weeks ago the Trofil Sportbodensysteme GmbH & Co. KG from Hennef in Germany was able to record a successfully completed project. The specialists in the artificial turf segment, replaced a dilapidated clay surface at the club headquarters of the SV "Schwarz-Weiß" Schwanenberg e.V. football club located in the district of Erkelenz, with a modern artificial turf pitch. "Both our pitches were so bad they couldn't be played on, so Thomas Graf, president of the club and myself looked for alternatives with the objective of provide a training pitch for our teams which would reduce injuries and be easy to care for", remembers committee member and project leader Ralf Braun. The decision was taken in favour of the Trofil Company, who not only provided the artificial turf for the project but also carried out the conversion and preparation work for the substrate area, laid the new turf including the elastic under-layer and distributed the final filling material using environmentally compatible rubber granules. The material used was TROFIL-GREEN® Multi Turf 40, especially designed and produced for hardwearing use on sports fields. This artificial turf developed and manufactured by the Trofil Company, gains points with its natural play and ball rolling behaviour at quality levels which are comparable to natural grass. The really outstanding feature of this turf, however, is its sport-friendly processing using quartz sand and environmentally compatible rubber granules as filler material. This filler is especially favourable to athlete's joints while providing them with a pleasant running sensation. "Without Trofil our club wouldn't have laid a synthetic turf pitch", Ralf Braun is convinced and he adds: "The project took a long time and was difficult from the point of view of financing right up until final realisation. But having started the actual work Trofil proved to be a partner ready to help with advice and support, competence and flexibility. The chemistry between us was right and we were convinced of having put our project in the right hands."

Luscious green for Hürth football club
Trofil Sportbodensysteme GmbH & Co. KG replaces a clay surface with modern artificial turf

The Trofil Sportbodensysteme Company from Hennef in Germany, was able to report a further successfully completed project recently. With the installation of a modern artificial turf surface at the football club GKSC Hürth located in Rhineland, Germany, the experts again strengthened their position as one of the leading manufacturers of artificial turf systems. The reasons for the conversion from clay to synthetic turf were explained by Stefan Kurth, Managing Director of Hürth, as follows. "Our clay surface was simply no longer up to date and this could be seen not only from its poor condition but also in that more and especially young and talented players were preferring to play on artificial surfaces. As a logical consequence, the Hürth club decided to modernise. Based on good references and the high commitment of the company, the club committee awarded the project to Trofil who provided a complete solution with installation of the elastic supporting layer as well as the artificial turf itself. From now on, the players of GKSC Hürth will play on TROFIL-GREEN® Multi-Turf 40 which, along with its natural play and ball rolling behaviour, is also optically difficult to tell apart from its natural counterpart. The particular highlight is however to be found, in the quality and player-friendly processing using quartz sand and skin-compatible rubber granules as filler material. This is also kind to players' joints and reduces the danger of injury. "We are happy to have found Trofil as partner where not only the final result, but also the human component was just right. We were sure at all times of having put the project in the right hands," stated Dieter Hoffmann, President of GKSC Hürth reviewing the situation and added: "If we consider a further artificial turf project, we would decide on Trofil again immediately."

Inclusive sports and inclusive sports facilities – still a long way to go

Inclusion and inclusive infrastructure design are still very topical issues. On the one hand, this is very positive and shows that people are aware of the issue and also want to promote it. On the other hand, however, it also shows that we are not making as much progress as we would like to and that there are still clear deficits.
