Playgrounds are "must-haves" for the European Children's Hotel Group

Photo

The European Children's Hotel group consists of approximately 50 family-friendly hotels in Austria, Germany, Croatia, Italy and Portugal. Regardless of whether in the Alps, at the lakeside or at the sea, - all the hotels of the member companies are situated in paradisiacal and peaceful areas. Since its foundation in 1988, the European Children's Hotel group has established itself as a strong and highly competent brand and plays an important pioneer and trend-setter role in the child-friendly hotel business.

The European Children's Hotels stand for a carefree family holiday, including an optimum quality of baby and child care. Regardless of whether the families choose a small family-run house or a luxurious wellness hotel, the brand itself stands for fulfilment of the various holiday requirements. All member companies are TÜV certified and meet all recognised high safety standards. They all have highly qualified staff and generally place great value on high quality.

Holiday for the whole family

Family holiday has to be fun. Regardless if jointly or separately, there is always something to do for all hotel guests of the European Children's Hotels. While the smallest get the best care in the children's club, their parents can spend some time together and are thus able to pursue their own hobbies. Regardless of whether in the field of sports or wellness, nothing remains to be desired. Besides, there is a lot to be discovered on excursions to the numerous places of interest in each region. Families with babies, medium-aged children and teenagers find an incomparable offer, which amazes both youngsters and adults. It is the perfect solution for both grandparents who want to spend a few days with their grandchildren and singles travelling with children. The detailed calculation of all offers provided by the Children's Hotels makes costs predictable and transparent.

The principles of the specialists for family holidays

Highest safety standards

Regular controls by the German Technical Inspection Authority TÜV

Smiley System

The specifically developed smiley assessment system for this hotel group attests at a glance care quality and a wide range of services.

Quality has its price.

The member companies of the Children's Hotel Group offer their guests a sophisticated programme at fair prices - for both sides.

The hotel group has its own academy.

The academy of the Europeans Children's Hotels, which was established by the group itself to provide the staff with regular and continued training, runs

about 300 training sessions every year.

Swimming is very easy.

In Fred's Swim Academy every child learns in an age-appropriate way and with specially trained teachers how to swim.

Baby-soother free time

Many member companies of the hotel group have specialised in holidays for young parents. The "baby perfect" houses offer all the amenities

for infants and babies from the first week of life.

In winter: Wedeling in nappies

Many hotels have baby skiing schools which specialise in teaching small children from the age of two to stand securely on skis.

Playgrounds as a marketing tool

The spokesperson of the hotel group, Siggi Neuschitzer, explains why playgrounds are must-haves for the Children's Hotels. "The playgrounds of our member hotels are large, individually designed, creative, well thought and practical. Apart from the professional baby and child care services, they have a very high marketing value. You may wonder why. Very simply because during their holidays parents want nothing more than to know that their children are in good hands, that they are physically active, have fun, find friends and are happy. Because only then parents are able to relax.

Awarded five smileys

The Tyrolean hotelier family Mayer is one of the members of the European Children's Hotel group. In their children's hotel Oberjoch**** in Bad Hindelang (Germany) and their two Leading Family Hotels & Resorts Alpenrose***** in Lermoos and Dachsteinkönig***** in Gosau (Austria) the main aspect is to provide a diverse range of recreational activities. All three hotels have received a "five smileys" rating and exclusively accommodate families with children.

Luxury for both parents and their children

The perfect infrastructure of the hotels convinces their guests. Apart from the baby and child care service for 90 hours a week by at least 20 qualified caretakers, the 2,000 sqm large indoor play area with a two-storied soft play area, a cinema, theatre, Go-kart track and an outdoor play park are standard features for the Mayer family. Water lovers can splash around, swim or use the water slides in the hotel swimming areas with numerous pools and attractions. Water slides with tyres and of up to 128 metres in length offer dashing downhill thrills. The indoor swimming pools for children are dedicated to various themes. So for instance in Oberjoch the small children can splash around "on the farm" with a tractor slide and water-spouting pigs, ponies and sheep. In the Alpenrose, the pirates are fighting tough battles in the Pirate Land and in the Dachsteinkönig the rotor blades of a helicopter circle above the heads of some small Jack Tars. Modern spa facilities with wellness offers for the whole family and various saunas reserved to parents for their evening regeneration complete the wellness programme. "In my opinion, a children's hotel does only deserve this name when the offer is right to both children and their parents", says owner Ernst Mayer.

Active holiday

"No matter how extensive the hotel offer is within its own four walls, the family holiday is only perfect if it also includes an extensive outdoor programme in the open air", Ernst Mayer adds. In the Oberjoch Children's Hotel in Bad Hindelang, Germany's highest mountain village in the Allgäu Alps, all stops were pulled out with its 5,000 sqm large outdoor play park in the hotel garden. It is here, where the children play all summer long in the giant bouncing castle, the adventure ropes course, the forest fairground with the Indian's tepee and the water playground. "The intensive construction phase during the last year was worth the effort", says delighted General Manager Volker Küchler. The new water playground, which we have given the name "Murmels Wasserwelt" has turned out excellent and is very popular among children. Besides it ideally complements our wide range of games offered. The investment of about 70,000 euros has paid off. The extensive timber water course situated under the mini-zoo with goats, alpacas, ponies and one donkey, offers sparkling entertainment at several stops and has been designed especially for the Children's Hotel.

Great fun for children

Speaking of goats, in the Oberjoch Children's Hotel it is not only the children who benefit from the exciting ideas of the Management. The two dwarf goats Schwänli and Bärli enjoy climbing up and down their own six-metre-high goat tower and thus have no reason to complain or bleat. It was last year when they made their own family plan and had their own cute offspring which now amazes all our hotel guests.

Playground of imagination

The Mayer Family, operator of the Leading Family Hotel & Resort Alpenrose in Lernmoos on the Austrian side of Germany's highest mountain called Zugspitze, is always open to new ideas.  Nevertheless, this openness includes annual investments in the hotel's game and leisure concepts. Apart from the trampolines, the boat pools and children's vehicle course, the highlight of the outdoor area, is the adventure playground where even older fans of Harry Potter are amazed. Everybody who knows hotel manager Ernst Mayer will know that this is not a usual playground.

Jürgen Bergmann, who comes from Einsiedel in Saxony and is known for his artistic woodwork was commissioned with the design. He created an entire culture island of tree houses. The adventure playground of the Leading Family Hotel & Resort Alpenrose is built as a small village with small tree houses, a windmill, suspension bridge, climbing castle, swings and climbing rocks.

General Manager Volker Schönherr comes along with an extra attraction: "Older kids are absolutely impressed by our ten-metre-high climbing wall. After the climbing session, their courage and dexterity is awarded with a certificate for climbing kings. The climbing wall is also an important element of the outdoor area because it provides both the opportunity to practise sports and to experience a sense of thrill."

The empire of the Dachsteinkönig

Also the youngest "baby" of the Mayer family, the Leading Family Hotel & Resort Dachsteinkönig in Gosau which opened in December 2016, pays special attention to the outdoor play area. It is currently considered the most inspiring and innovative family hotel. It is the only children's hotel which has right from the beginning been planned to be a family resort and which has been newly built on the "greenfield". It consists of 105 family suites and a chalet village with living spaces of up to 156 sqm, which offer all imaginable amenities for big and small. The donkeys, sheep and goats of the pets corner are the favourites of our small guests. The only separation between their stables and the lobby is a glass wall. After the first successful winter season, the hotel's  Manager Florian Mayer, the older son of Andrea and Ernst Mayer, has taken on responsibility for the design of the outdoor facilities. "Our slogan is "unique - special - legendary". Not more and not less is what we promise our guests: A unique and unforgettable holiday experience. And that is exactly what the hotel garden concept should reflect", says the 31-year-old. Right next to the hotel, the little ones can frolick about on the knights jumping castle and the trampolines or take a ride on children's vehicles around the racing track. Meanwhile their parents can make themselves comfortable in the lounge corner and enjoy the view on the Gosaukamm mountain.

Stagnation is regression

From the beginning of the next summer season, all children can enjoy the 10-metre- high climbing tower which reigns over the playground in the shape of the Dachsteinkönig and which will impress and fascinate all the cool kids. Here children can both climb up into dizzying heights and slide down the steel cable slide at a breath-taking speed. The new E-Trial and Mountain Bike route also promises high speed experiences. In the E-Trial-Park electrically powered bikes are available in three different sizes. 40 adult and child mountain bikes have already been ordered. Although we have invested another 80,000 euros in the new outdoor area, we recommend our guests also to leave the hotel and explore the beautiful surroundings", says Florian Mayer. "For instance excursions to the near Dachstein giant ice cave in Hallstatt, the Salzwelten at Dürrnberg or to the prehistoric forest are also great experiences for the whole family. But it is good to know that we are able to guarantee our guests that their children will never be bored even if they don't leave the hotel. By the way, teenagers are especially interested in guided Segway tours which we have recently added to our leisure programme.
