They visited as many military bases and town centres as possible on the way. They also raised over £15,000 to be put towards 2 new prosthetic legs for Ben.
Ben does not want our sympathy but he does deserve our admiration and support. Ben has had lots of media coverage but there are many soldiers like him who have lost limbs, suffered loss of sight and brain damage who are in the shadows.
Back Ben Parkinson is a campaign to raise money for Ben Parkinson and create awareness of other seriously injured soldiers like him.
Paul Redden, MD of eibeplay UK, said – The eibe play team did not hesitate when asked if we would join other sponsors to help the boys achieve their goal. Ben is an inspiration but also the boys that have done this ride have achieved not only a personal goal but also national and regional media coverage onto a really important issue. Seriously injured young people are returning from Afghanistan with their lives changed forever, these kids are not long out of secondary school!!. The boys have now got other schools interested in sponsoring a wounded soldier for his lifetime. I followed these boys for 2 weeks to support them with breakdowns and planning, it was the best time I have had for years and the generosity from all the towns we visited was absolutely astonishing and inspirational. As a provider of products to young people as well as children and schools we are proud to be associated with this cause!
