Parkour – the art of movement

Photo

Parkour allows you to explore a wide variety of movements and enhances your sensory perception. Besides, it essentially requires physical fitness, co-ordination and a safe behaviour to avoid injuries. To a great extent, parkour involves physically challenging movements, which not only require some courage but also responsibility and co-operation. As an art of movement, it promotes creativity.
As a multi-faceted sports, parkour can thus excellently take into account the different interests and motives of the pupils.
The State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia, the statutory accident insurance fund of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Regional Rhenish Gymnastics Federation (RTB) work together to develop a pilot scheme, whose aim is to establish the discipline of parkour as an integral part of the curricula in the field of “exercising with equipment”. Afterwards, this project is to be implemented throughout Germany. Parkour simply makes you want to get up and move.
