Television – the most popular medium for children

Of course, the computer and Internet also play a significant role, as two thirds regularly use these media, but the television – watched for about 90 minutes a day – is the most-used medium for children. 73 percent watch television daily or almost every day, 24 percent at least once to several times a week. These were the results of the KIM Study (children and media, computers and Internet) of the Medienpädagogischer Forschungsverbund Südwest (mpfs) (media pedagogical research network of the south west), for which 1,200 children and their main educators were surveyed. According to the study, each household with a child has a television. 42 percent of children even have a television in their bedroom.
