From the Ruhr to the Rhine: FIBO will be taking place in Cologne from 2013

A corresponding contract was signed by the trade fair organisers, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH and Koelnmesse Ausstellungen GmbH. The term of the contract extends over a period of ten years and goes up to 2022. Both coming events, 2011 and 2012, will take place in Essen.

The reason for the change of location is FIBO‘s continued, sharply increasing, need for space. At this year‘s FIBO, which is to take place from the 14th to 17th of April 2011 in Essen, the world trade fair is to occupy all available halls on the ground level with an area of 75,000 m². FIBO is set to proceed with the growth curve it has been experiencing since 2005, and in the space of five years the number of exhibitors has increased from 339 to 561 companies.

“The difficult decision to leave Essen has been prompted due to the success and good cooperation with the Essen trade fair. Nevertheless, it is essential as there is currently no scope for the growing need for exhibition space,” states Hans-Joachim Erbel, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. This also underlines the surface coverage which is planned from 2013 onwards in Cologne: To start off with, FIBO will be using 86.000 m² and will occupy the four new halls 6 and 9 - which were completed in 2006 - and, in part, halls 1 to 3. In doing so, halls 6 and 9 will be utilised for growing area of fitness, wellness and health for the trade fair, and halls 1 to 3 will be used by FIBO POWER, which will take place simultaneously and which is especially dedicated for bodybuilding and body conditioning. The new hall occupancy arrangements will help to further segregate both events.

Future dates:
FIBO 2011, 14th to 17th of April 2011, Essen exhibition centre
FIBO 2012, 19th to 22th of April 2012, Essen exhibition centre
FIBO 2013, 11th to 14th of April 2013, Cologne exhibition centre
