JUST IMAGINE… A NEW WAY TO PLAY!

“This is a unique concept in interactive surfacing,” are the opening words from Thomas Møller-Nielsen about Playtop’s new Playtop Street product.

Møller -Nielsen, who is international business development manager for Playtop, adds “ Playtop Street offers children, teenagers and adults a new way to play, exercise, interact and learn. It physically and mentally stimulates individuals or groups from the age of one to 101!”

One Area, One Investment, Hundreds of Possibilities

Playtop Street focuses on four key areas: play, exercise, socialising and learning.
Thomas Møller-Nielsen explains; “Playtop Street is fun and exciting and can be played over and over again. Because it responds to the speed of the players, the more familiar they get with the games, the more challenging the games become.
“To encourage physical activity, exercise needs to be fun. Playtop Street is so inspiring and competitive that both adults and children forget they are moving and just want to go on and on. It’s a great way of exercising without realising it! And, with some of the pre-set games, it combines strategic thinking – players have to anticipate what their opponents might do next.”
The company also believes that Playtop Street will appeal as a meeting place. Møller-Nielsen continues; “The area allows for passive and active participation and can be played by individuals or teams. It also appeals to any generation from young children to the elderly – all can play and learn from each other.”

Get Up and Get Out!

It is clear how passionate the company is about this new product from Thomas’s enthusiasm. “Playtop Street can be used as a fantastic outdoor educational tool – where pupils have to combine movement with learning. The teacher can prepare questions that have to be solved by the children or the class can be divided into smaller groups and challenge each other. The children could even challenge the teacher!”
Playtop Street is also currently being assessed for its use with wheelchairs and as a teaching aid for children with autism. The company believes that the area allows for fully inclusive play, including as a possible rehabilitation tool.

Let’s Talk Detail

Playtop Street has been developed in association with Playtop’s new research and development company, Playtop Apps, which is headed by Klaus Sorensen. He explains why the product is so unique; “For a play area with a difference, Playtop Street offers so much. It’s ideal for schools, nurseries, public spaces, theme parks, leisure facilities, retail parks and shopping malls. There are no fall heights to worry about and no equipment that can be vandalised.
“Each Playtop Street satellite has its own processor so there’s no central computer server to worry about. Where there isn’t an electrical supply, we can power the area using wind or solar power.”
The area comes as a complete package, including the 51 square metres of Playtop safer surfacing (at a 65mm thickness), the satellites, the edging and the installation (from an approved Playtop installer). It is available in over 25 colours, can incorporate logos and words and uses recycled tyres and sports shoes – in the form of Nike Grind – within the surfacing.

Rapid Expansion

Playtop has seen demand for its products grow significantly over the last few years. From supplying impact-absorbing play surfacing just in the UK, Playtop now has three international offices and offers support to 35 licensees in 50 countries across the world. It is estimated that over two million square metres of Playtop are currently in use worldwide.
