Exciting acacia playground at the heart of the mountains
The idyllic village of Serfaus in the Tyrolean Oberland offers extraordinary experiences for all the family, whatever the season. The fun playgrounds are especially popular amongst children, and prove to be a real attraction time and time again.
Austria’s leading playground equipment manufacturer, Obra Design, has been a strong partner of Komperdell Bergbahnen for years. A few years ago, the Murmliwasser Water Park was constructed, which offers thousands of children space to splash around, make constructions, build dams, play in the sand and run to their hearts’ content.
In spring 2010, another large play area was constructed at the valley station of the new Königsleithe cable car. In collaboration with the horticultural company Kerschdorfer, a truly extraordinary acacia play area was planned and created. As one of Europe's hardest timbers which, as a result is extremely resilient, acacia wood was chosen. Given its irregular forms, acacia was used in its natural form, lending the playground equipment a unique character, whilst creating a particularly harmonious effect with the mountain surroundings. In short, this was the perfect material for the task at hand. The highlight of the play area is undoubtedly the magnificent tree house with jungle bridge, which is accompanied by a rope jungle, a racy hillside slide, the ever-popular trampoline and many more exciting features.
