“Day in day out, the sport clubs of Hesse carry part of the responsibility for society – whether in the integration of foreign members into club life, activities in the sector of health or special offers for senior citizens. Many clubs are doing this in innovative ways. We want to reward and publicise this, also in the hope that other clubs will then follow these examples,” states Dr. Heinz-Georg Sundermann, Managing Director of the Lotterie-Treuhandgesellschaft Hessen mbH and Dr. Rolf Müller, President of the Landessportbundes Hessen e.V..
In this way, for example, projects concerning the topic of integration or models for the implementation of sport programmes despite financial problems in the communities, can be awarded with a prize. In addition, people who, through their ideas and engagement, will play a defining part in the future of sport in the region of Hesse, can also be rewarded. The general condition is that they are members of the Hesse sport association Landessportbund Hessen.
Prize winners are chosen by a jury chaired by the former German Federal Minister for Research, Prof. Dr. Heinz Riesenhuber. Also taking part in the jury are the Hesse minister for internal affairs and sport, Volker Bouffier, Lotto managing director, Dr. Heinz-Georg Sundermann, lsb h-President, Dr. Rolf Müller, Ralf Scholt, head of sports for the Hesse broadcasting company ‘Hessischen Rundfunk’ and Hans-Dieter Hillmoth, managing director and programme director of Hit Radio FFH. This year’s “Oddset Future Prize for Sport in Hesse” will be presented on Friday, September 3, 2010.
