Pieper Holz passes prize money on to children’s project

In 2007, windstorm Kyrill at first led to a short-term surplus of timber, which in the medium term, however, turned into a shortage.

The commissioned “riedel und eichler” advertising agency developed the idea of exploring new avenues in wood purchase with a high-publicity advertising campaign. The advertisement was designed and phrased like a lonely hearts ad featuring the slogan “Sawmill is looking for Forest Owner”. The creative advertising experts banked on humour. The advertisement was published in various media not only in the Sauerland region, but also beyond. It met with an overwhelming response from the target group addressed, which was to be encouraged to get in contact and sell their wood. The “Sauerland Initiativ” jury was impressed by it and presented the Recognition Award worth 1,000 euros to the Olsberg-Assinghausen-based Pieper Holz company at this year’s presentation of the “Innovationspreis Sauerland 2011” (2011 Sauerland Innovation Award). The company based in Olsberg-Assinghausen has now donated the prize money of 1,000 euros to the “Du bist dabei” project of the “Wir in Olsberg” foundation for the promotion of children and young people.
It goes without saying that Pieper Holz passed the prize money awarded on to exemplary and non-profit organizations in the area. Hans-Georg Pieper: ‘Being the owner of a medium-sized enterprise also means entering into partnerships and maintaining these as well as sticking together and showing solidarity in hard times; even with these principles it is possible to have economic success and to accept responsibility in the local Sauerland area.’ (www.pieperholz.de)
