Urban Design – safe without impact protection

Shopping doesn’t need to be inconsistent with playing!

Some playpoints manufactured by the Urban Design Berlin GmbH (UDB) company specializing in urban design have now been admitted for installation without impact protection in inner-city areas after thorough inspection by TÜV Süd. Specifically, these are the playpoints of the Cat Tail, Swallow Tail and Pin Tail series.
‘The combination of outstanding and attractive design, high play value and high-grade materials provides urban planners with elements that create a pleasurable city centre experience and help make the city centre appeal to both young people and old,’ says Marcus Vellmanns of UDB, which is a member of the Berliner Seilfabrik ring. ‘A family outing to the city centre is then again fun for everyone involved for apart from shopping and a coffee break at a café, the children have plenty of opportunities to be active and have fun.’ As both little and grown-up users of the playpoints can control the movements themselves, no additional impact protection is required. By the way, this also applies to the UDB playpoints Orbit.01/02 and Champignon.40/60.
Nevertheless, these play areas often have to be flexible in case that the Christmas market season or the carnival season with its parades are approaching. ‘We have also thought of this for the playpoints can easily be removed; the only thing that remains is a steel plate at the same level,’ says Mr Vellmanns.
